Whatever you question is, we have the answer for you! Check out the categorized information below to find the answers you need to get started.
Finance
From FAFSA to Payment Plans, the information below will get you on the right track to starting at York Technical College in the best financial standing possible. If you have any additional questions, please email finaid@yorktech.edu.
Step 1:
Start by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine your federal aid eligibility.

Need Assistance applying for the FAFSA? Register for one of our FAFSA Frenzy events, or stop by the Enrollment Services desk in the Student Services (J) Building. We have computers available for FAFSA completion.
Step 2:
Your FAFSA may be selected for verification, which means we will need additional documentation to process your application. Other documents may be required in order to clear up conflicting information on your FAFSA or clear items that were flagged by the Department of Education. Information about missing documents may be viewed in Navigate, and emails will also be sent to students informing them of missing documents. Documents may be uploaded in Navigate, scanned and emailed to finaid@yorktech.edu from your York Tech email address, or dropped off in person at the Enrollment Services desk in the Student Services (J) Building.

York Tech offers four different types of courses: Online (Web), Web-Enhanced, Hybrid (Face-to-Face), and Attend Anywhere.
- Hybrid: Course that consists of a combination of in-person and online/web-enhanced instruction.
In-person attendance is required!
- Lecture: Courses are held on campus at scheduled times and scheduled days in person.
- Web-Enhanced Online: Online course with a synchronous (live) virtual lecture component at regularly scheduled
times. Most similar to an in-person course with synchronous sessions occurring at
the regularly scheduled class time
(example: MWF 9-9:50am). (Noted as WEBEX on the class schedule under the ‘Class Format.’)
- Asynchronous Online: Online course with no synchronous (live) component asynchronous. Requires the most
independent learning and initiative
of students. (Noted as INT on the class schedule under the ‘Class Format.’)

Laptops are not provided to students by the college, so having your own reliable device is helpful to keep up with coursework, virtual meetings, and online platforms like D2L. York Tech provides free access to Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more). Also, Computer labs are available on campus for students who need occasional access to a computer or printer
If you’re purchasing a laptop, here’s some guidance for our IT Team:
Prioritize laptops with a built-in webcam and microphone for online classes.
The laptop will work best if it meets at least these minimum specs for Windows 11:
- 64-bit processor, 1 GHz or faster, with 2 or more cores
- 4 GB RAM (8 GB RAM or more – strongly recommended)
- 64 GB storage (256 GB SSD recommended)
- UEFI firmware with Secure Boot capability
- TPM version 2.0
For better performance, we recommend:
- Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor
Wi-Fi Compatibility Tip
We’ve observed that HP laptops may have trouble staying connected to our campus Wi-Fi. For the most reliable connection, we recommend considering other brands like Dell, Lenovo, Acer, or ASUS.
For assistance setting up accommodations, visit Accessibility Services.
If you have a diagnosed disability (learning, physical, or psychological), you can request accommodations.
Once you have been admitted to the College, the first step is to complete the following intake form. It is also best to have already registered for your classes.
Accessibility Services Intake Form
After you complete this intake, you will be required to provide documentation, and will be contacted to schedule a meeting with an Accessibility Specialist to discuss the accommodations you may be eligible for, as well as the process for using them in your classes.
Please understand that the process is different than high school. Even dual enrollment students cannot submit an IEP or 504 Plan to their college instructor. Any accommodations must be approved through Accessibility Services.
If you are a returning student who has already established accommodations, please submit your faculty notification form. Check your YTC email for communication about completing this form.
