Welcome Families and Supporters to York Technical College! 

At York Tech, we believe that a student’s community plays an important role in a student’s success. We will assist students in cultivating their academic and professional communities; however, it is the support of those who care about them most and know them best that will motivate our students to continue on their journey when we are not able to. Our New Student Orientation (NSO) program is designed not only for students but also to help families feel confident and informed as your student begins this exciting new journey. 

What to Expect at Orientation

Parents and family members are encouraged to attend NSO with their student. You will have opportunity to: 

• Learn about academic support services available to your student. 

• Gain insight into the financial aid process and payment options. 

• Explore campus resources, including student life and wellness services. 

• Ask questions and connect with staff dedicated to student success. 

 

Why Your Participation Matters

Your involvement helps ensure your student starts their semester prepared. Families who attend orientation report feeling more connected, informed, and ready to support their student through this transition. 

How to Prepare 

• Arrive 20 minutes early for check-in with your student.  
  
  

• Remind your student to bring the required documents for financial aid or residency. Students will receive an email to their YTC email address from residency@yorktech.edu and finaid@yorktech.edu if there are additional documents that they need to submit prior to their courses beginning.  
  
  

• Encourage your student to embrace the NSO process by participating fully in the experience. 
  
  
• Bring any questions you may have about campus resources, academics, or next steps.
