English and Foreign Languages Department
The English and Foreign Languages Department provides instruction that spans across the College's academic programs by offering courses in composition, technical and business communication, literature, public speaking, Spanish, French, and creative writing. We seek to engage and support students in the development of critical reading, writing, and communication skills.
Our department is committed to helping students recognize the importance of these skills in transfer and workplace environments through intentional curriculum design and thoughtful use of instructional resources. Ultimately, we strive to assist students in their path toward excellence and achievement of their professional goals.

For the 2025 Community College Humanities Association (CCHA) Literary Magazine Competition awards, York Technical College won the following:
Overall Magazine Awards:
- 1st Place National Award for Best Magazine
- 1st Place Best Magazine Southern Division
Individual Winners:
- 1st Place Best Poem in Southern Division: "Great Sword" by Samantha Tuthill
- 2nd Place Best Poem in Southern Division: "Floral Pattern Living Room Couch" by MJ Starcher
- Best Essay* in Southern Division: "Enter Reality" by Parker Williamson
*CCHA only awarded one winner per Division for Best Essay.
The 2024 Edition of Titan's Muse was awarded 3rd Place in the Southern Region for Best Literary Magazine. York Tech students also won awards for outstanding artwork and photography.
