York Technical College Students Become National Champions at SkillsUSA National Competition

Group of students and advisors at SkillsUSA NationalsIt's a great day for York Technical College! Last week, a group of 36 elite students, accompanied by their advisors, attended the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Our students went head to head against other top notch young professionals from across the United States, showcasing their skills in a series of industry specific and professional development focused competitions. 

We are proud to share that this year, 27 students placed within the top 10 in the nation, with 12 students earning bronze and 4 students earning gold. 

2026 Top 10 Placements

  • Zan Wallace, Austin Townsend, and Mario Barragan - Gold medal in Engineering Technology Design
  • Daniel Pernell - Gold medal in Action Skills
    • Darren Pernell - Served as the model for the Action Skills competition
  • Britney Hunter - Bronze medal in Practical Nursing
  • Connor Threatt - Bronze medal in Prepared Speech
  • Robert Bechtold, Krysten Mayes, and Kristen Dunham, - Bronze medal in Community Service
  • Angelo Allison, Isabelle Brazzell, Kevin Hernandez-Mendez, Natalie Jurado, Jaimon McIlwain, Geneva Thomas, and Bailey Pendleton - Bronze medal in Opening and Closing Ceremonies

  • Benjamin Gregory - 5th place in Principles of Engineering - Technology

  • Jake Berrojo - 6th place in Criminal Justice
  • Gage Freeman - 7th place in CNC 5-Axis Milling Programmer
  • Eduardo Santos - 7th place in Heavy Equipment Operator
  • Breanna Norris - 7th place in Information Technology Services
  • Elijah McAllister - 9th place in Electrical Wiring
