No More Waitlists
That's right. York Technical College is removing waitlists for its limited enrollment programs. This includes Medical Laboratory Technology, Surgical Technology, Radiologic Technology, Dental Hygiene and Assisting, Registered Nursing, and Licensed Practical Nursing.
The removal of waitlists brings new requirements to enter each program. All changes, including minimum required GPA, and specific course grades are listed in detail below.
General Changes
All student applications will be graded on a 30 point scale. A perfect 30 is not required for acceptance into a program, but applications closer to 30 points will be prioritized. To maintain complete transparency about our process, a complete breakdown of all 30 points is listed in the sections below.
While each program has changes related to specific course requirements and tests, there are two requirements all students must meet regardless of the program they hope to enter.
- Students must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA through their prerequisite classes.
- Points will be assigned to applications based on GPA.
- 4.0 - 3.75 = 4 points
- 3.74 - 3.5 = 3 points
- 3.49 - 3.25 = 2 points
- 3.24 - 3.0 = 1 point
- Points will be assigned to applications based on GPA.
- Students must score a 59 or higher on the TEAS Exam. This includes a scoring 59 or higher on the reading subcategory.
- Points will be assigned to applications based on TEAS score.
- 91 - 100 = 4 points
- 78 - 90 = 3 points
- 59 - 77 = 2 points
- TEAS is a standardized test that assesses skills in math, science, english, and reading.
- TEAS can only be taken three times per calendar year.
- The test costs an average of $120???
- Points will be assigned to applications based on TEAS score.
