The Department of Public Safety will assist the local authorities with investigating and documenting any on-campus crime incidents such as theft, vandalism, etc. All incidents requiring physical intervention are referred to the Rock Hill Police Department. Student problems are referred to the Dean for Students Office or the Associate Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs with assistance provided from the Department of Public Safety.
The Chief of Public Safety is an armed certified law enforcement officer. Public Safety Officers are First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certified. The Chief of Public Safety urges the campus community to provide feedback that might help the department enhance its services to students and to the York Technical College community in general. Parking decals are issued by the Business Office, which is located in the Student Services Building. All employees and students are required to display a vehicle-parking permit for all vehicles brought on campus. Please have your vehicle tag numbers available when registering for your York Technical College decals. Open parking in authorized areas is available to all employees or students. Unauthorized areas are fire zones, handicapped spaces, visitor parking, loading zones, and “No Parking” zones. Parking in grass areas is only allowed when concrete car stops are placed in these areas, or when directed to do so by Public Safety Officers. Temporary placards for disabled employees or students are available through the Human Resources Office or from the Special Resources Office in Student Services.

D lot, located between the Administration Building and A Building is used only for handicapped parking, visitor parking, or 30 minute parking from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
While on campus, automobile stereos and boom boxes are to be turned down to a moderate level so as not to be heard outside the automobile and/or disturb surrounding offices and classes.

Vehicle Decals must be displayed on the left (driver’s side) of the rear window. Motorcycles shall display permits on the front forks of the bikes.
Vehicles are subject to be issued a citation if the vehicle does not display an up to date York Tech College parking decal.
