As part of York Technical College's ongoing commitment to
military veterans and their families, the College has partnered with Veteran
Scholarships Forever, a non-profit foundation based in Greenville, S.C., to
launch a new scholarship program.
The Veteran Scholarships Forever
scholarships will provide funding for veterans and their spouses to take
vocational and skilled trades training programs that can lead to employment,
said Ron Demonet, the scholarship program’s managing director. The
scholarships at York Tech will be offered through the Corporate &
Continuing Education division.
Demonet started Veteran Scholarships
Forever after learning about the high unemployment rates for post-9/11
veterans. Veteran Scholarships Forever does not grant scholarships directly;
York Tech will administer the scholarships through an endowed fund established
through the York Technical College Foundation.
York Tech is the
fourth school in South Carolina to offer aid from Veteran Scholarships
Forever, joining. Greenville Technical College, Tri County Technical College
and Spartanburg Community College. The program relies on donations from
individuals and businesses to fund the scholarships. Visit www.scholarshipsforever.org
for information on how to contribute.
