The use of the TurningTechnologies Student Response System (clickers) is a valuable way to actively engage your students and increase participation. In addition, this method of assessment provides the Instructor with valuable feedback helping to facilitate discussion, and formulate next steps based on student comprehension.
This procedure provides the requirements for checking out the clickers from the Education Technology Center (ETC).
Instructors are responsible for contacting the ETC when they would like to use the clickers. The ETC will check out clicker kit to that particular instructor. The instructor will be responsible for distributing and collecting the clickers. In situations where there are multiple locations, the location representative will support the instructor with the classroom set up (receiver and session id input), distribution, and collection of clickers. The instructor is responsible for the clicker kit. Missing clickers and receivers will require the ETC to charge the instructor's department for replacements.
When there are multiple locations involved (one course with students in different locations) a representative from each location will be responsible for supporting the clicker system. The representative will plug in the receiver, set up the poll for remote use, check out the clickers, collect the clickers, and retrieve the receiver at the end of the session.
