In an ever-growing technology arena, wireless networking technologies are
becoming a crucial component of a campus network. Improvements in the bandwidth
and security of Wi-Fi technology make it possible for students and guests to
access the Internet using their personal laptops and mobile devices without
physically connecting to the campus network. Any user accessing York Technical
College’s network resources should adhere to the Acceptable Use Policy, as
stated in the faculty and student handbook.
York Technical College provides a wireless networking infrastructure for
faculty, students, and guests. The College is in the process of replacing the
current wireless network; known as YTROAM.
The new network known as YTGUEST1 is
for students and visitors; YTROAM1 is for Faculty and Staff using their
domain (Operations) accounts. The
access points (APs) are strategically placed throughout the campus for maximum
utilization. Additional APs will be
added to increase wireless coverage in more areas.
