As a student with a disability seeking services
from the Special Resources Office (SRO), it is your responsibility to:
1. identify yourself as needing accommodation in a timely fashion to the
SRO by
a. providing documentation from an appropriate professional, and
b. demonstrating and documenting how your disability affects a particular
delivery system, instructional method, or evaluation criteria when requesting
accommodations.
2. meet and maintain the College's fundamental academic and technical
standards.
3. notify the SRO each term you are an active student at the College.
4. request Faculty Notification Forms from the SRO at the beginning
of each term; these forms are used to notify your instructors of any type of
accommodation(s) that you need for a class.
Students with
disabilities are encouraged to meet with their instructors. You know your
disability and are the best one to explain your own coping strategies. Don't
wait for a problem to arise--not only will this put you at ease, but it will
help the instructor in understanding and meeting your individual needs. Clearly
state what accommodation(s) you require and have been approved by the SRO.
Complaints
Any complaints about accommodation (physical access, interpreters, note
takers, taped texts, Braille copies, unwillingness of faculty to accommodate
your required needs, etc.) should be submitted to the SRO. We can be reached at 327-8007.
