Build YOUR Future ... HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - Salary: $31,850 ‑ $54,330

Heavy equipment operators transport, operate, and maintain heavy machinery such as bulldozers, motor graders, and excavators. Some operators have skills in other trades as well. Heavy equipment operators must be physically fit, able to solve problems, work with lots of people, and enjoy working outside. So if you are thinking of changing jobs or are just starting out, a career in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator may hold the promise for an exciting and challenging future.

About the Program..

The Heavy Equipment Operator Program is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), a not‑for‑profit, national education foundation founded by 11 of the world's largest and most progressive construction companies. Students who enroll in the program train on a 26‑acre tract located near Chester. South Carolina, using name‑brand equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, and motor graders. Upon completing the program, students gain the knowledge and skills required to use heavy equipment for land clearing, building culverts and ponds, excavating ditches for utilities, as well as pipe laying and road building. Also, they are eligible to have transcripts and documentation of their training placed in NCCER's National Registry. This registration ensures that students' qualifications will be recognized wherever they go.
