Cosen Makes Valuable Contribution to College’s Machining Programs

December 26, 2003

ROCK HILL—The York Technical College Foundation recently announced a donation by Cosen International Inc. USA of one of its sophisticated band saws to the college’s machining programs. The saw, valued at approximately $10,000, will be used by students in the college’s Machine Tool and Manufacturing Technology programs.

York Technical College Foundation Executive Director Dr. Ed Duffy said, “Cosen’s generous gift to these important programs continues the college’s tradition of partnering with industry. For our students, that means training on leading edge technology and gaining valuable skills that will be attractive to employers.”

Since its establishment in 1976, Cosen International has grown into one of the world’s largest professional band saw manufacturers. Headquartered in Taiwan, the company now operates in more than 70 countries. It maintains its U.S headquarters in Fort Mill.

York Technical College’s Machine Tool programs prepare students for opportunities as machinists, tool and die makers, quality control technicians, and in many other fields. The college’s Integrated Manufacturing Technology curriculum produces multi-skilled graduates who are able to step into the job market with skills in machining, tool and die making, industrial maintenance, and quality control.
