Also at the ceremony, the college will recognize the late Tommy Davis as this year's Distinguished Alumnus.

Davis, a graduate of York Technical College, served in the U.S. Army in both Vietnam and Korea. Upon returning to his hometown of Chester, he went to work for Springs Industries—working his way from the factory floor to the front office as personnel manager. He later held similar positions at other companies in the Southeast. From 1990 until 2006, he was the employee relations manager for F. Schumacher & Co. in Richburg.

Davis was a humble man with a warm smile who had many friends and a loving family. He believed in giving back to the community he loved. He served as a trustee of Lincolnville Baptist Church as well as a volunteer and board member for a number of local organizations, including the Chester Regional Medical Center Board of Directors, the Chester County Voter Registration Board, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life program, the Catawba Workforce Investment Board, and the York Technical College Foundation Board.
