ROCK HILL—More
than 90 people gathered at the Cotton Factory in downtown Rock Hill on
Tuesday for a special free event of the Entrepreneur Network. Jason
Broadwater, principal and founder of RevenFlo LLC, made a presentation
entitled "Friends, Fans and
Followers: How Social Media is Changing Small Business.”
Broadwater
presented 90 minutes of ready-to-apply techniques for using Facebook,
LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs, and Google to expand small business’ outreach
and customer service. Recommending that business owners keep a personal
Facebook account separate from their business account, Broadwater
demonstrated the Facebook page of his own company and pointed out the
types of information appropriate for business pages. On his blog, he
showed how writing informative articles can attract followers who may
become customers.
Broadwater stressed the importance of making value-added postings and
not just glib ramblings that one often sees on Facebook and
Twitter. He uses his Twitter account to publicize when he has a
new article posted on his blog. To
wrap up the session, Broadwater demonstrated how businesses can set up
profiles on Google to ensure that their business is listed during any
search that is relevant to their business and the location. For additional information
